Gateway to the Unknown
Loneliness is a human illusion created by Ego and nurtured by fear. However, “Ego” is but a template our ever impressionable mind created when we came into existence, and fear only a seedling of emotion. Neither can ever become anything of value in our life without our time, attention, and acceptance. You are the ruler of your world, so do so wisely, justly – and most of all, gently – when it comes to YOU.

I was reminded today while working with a client how those in our lives act as a mirror, they reflect who we are as individuals. That we can see parts of ourselves reflected back at us by those we draw into our lives so that we can see better where we are in this life plan for the purpose of spiritual growth and knowledge. I think Tania Kostos said it best: “It is only when you understand what it truly means to see yourself reflected back at you, that there is no room for blame, there is no room for judgement and there is no room to feel like a victim of another person’s actions or words. There is only room for real love based on understanding and gratitude. Compromise comes easy, forgiveness is a given and growth is inevitable. While this truth applies to all of your relationships, from your family, to your friends and colleagues, and even to those you deem your “enemy”, it is your relationship with your significant other that enables you to take the closest, most accurate look at who you are.” If you do not have a “significant other”, then those qualities you’re searching for in one, is most likely the qualities you seek within yourself. Don’t give up on YOU, so many of the answers we seek are right under our nose.
All beauty is marred, or…scarred, if you prefer…everything from natures wonders like the Grand Canyon, Glacier ice flows and Kilauea, to Itzhak Perlman, Padma Lakshmi and Seal. Sometimes that which pulls and tears at us is the very thing that builds our unmistakeable character and personality. It’s what tempers us into the jewel we become, that others admire, desire and work themselves to be. Regardless if your wounds and scars are physical or emotional, before you damn yourself and curse all your hardships and bad luck…take 60 seconds to see who you are NOW. The experience you have gained, the patience and tolerance, the understanding, it’s the very grace that makes you shine…and draw others to your light. Accept your imperfections…embrace YOU.
